HIV Counseling is a form of face to face education that allows the patient to gain accurate and practical infomation about HIV, its spread and treatment. We recommend that you seek counseling before an HIV test and if you are HIV positive, after the test.
Where to get HIV counseling in Johannesburg
Most public clinics and hospitals in Johannesburg provide HIV counseling. Many of the HIV counseling sessions in public facilities will be in groups but it is possible to request a one on one HIV counseling session with one of the nurses.
Private hospitals and clinics also provide HIV counseling and testing. Your GP should be able to give you HIV counseling if you need it and refer you to a specialist if necessary.

New Start are dedicated to the fight against HIV, if you are unable to get to new start they may be able to do as home visit, this will however need to arranged with the counsellors and be subject to the rules at New Start
Where to get HIV counseling in South Africa
Most cities will have counseling facilities similar to Johannesburg, where public and private clinics will provide you with the HIV counseling that you may need. In rural areas it may be more difficult to get the needed HIV counseling, where it may be more convenient to do research online about HIV.
